and on the 4th day...
day 4 of healthy new life or whatever the fuck you want to call it.
i'm doing rather well. except for yesterday. in the morning, i had an orange-mango-banana vivanno from starbucks with a shot of matcha (green tea stuff). it's less than 300 calories, and the protein & vitamin content is great. trust me, i've checked the stats on this smoothie, and it's surprisingly good for you. filling, too. annyyyway. i had a banana for a snack. then for lunch, i went over to murphy's deli. i got a club sandwich, sans tomato, and a big bowl of fruit. i got back to the office, and grant told me to check the freezer. i was concerned at first because the guys here hunt a lot, and we've found things with feathers & other questionable bulging bags in there before; however, when i opened the freezer, i found a small milkshake from jack in the box. dammit.
about a month or so ago, grant owed me a milkshake for all this stuff i was doing for him. it became this running joke because he apparently tried to get me one a couple of times, but they don't serve milkshakes before noon or some nonsense. grant, not knowing i'm on a diet, bought me a milkshake yesterday.
instead of eating my sandwich, i drank half of the SMALL milkshake, and ate the entire big bowl of fruit i got. i saved the sandwich for dinner. i went home, worked out, showered, and ate my sandwich. for dessert i had a 100 calorie pack of oreo cakes.
my weakness is sweets. see, no matter what, even if i'm dieting, or if i'm poor, i always have ice cream in my freezer. it's delicious and comforting. i don't eat a lot at a time. in fact, i've made damn sure to only eat the portion size. also, i noticed at the store that weight watchers/skinny cow ice creams have just as much calories/fat as the HEB generic brand i buy. so i'll buy me cheap generic, kthx. besides, i think HEB has the best generic ice cream ever. it's so creamy and good.
i've been working out every day for the past 3 days, and today will be my 4th day. i'm still undecided on whether to work out monday-friday, or monday-thursday, or what. i don't think it would kill me to work out on fridays. favre has school friday nights, so it'd give me something to do. while i do enjoy the wii fit, i've gotten annoyed with the daily weigh in. one day, it told me i lost 2.4 pounds and the next day it told me i gained almost 7. impossible. i don't trust that little balance board to read weight correctly. after some google research, i found more people with this issue, and apparently it has something to do with putting the board on carpet. oh well. i don't think it's good to weigh yourself while you diet. i think it can be discouraging. your weight will go up and down while you diet, even over the course of one day. you may bloat up a little before you drop weight. if you're adding muscle, that could be the cause of stagnation at a certain point down the line. so. no weighing myself.
optimally, i'd like to drop about 40 pounds. if i give myself one year to do it, that's 3.33 pounds a month. when you calculate it that way, it seems easy as hell, right? i've also thought about buying a tae-bo dvd. shut up! the boxing portion of my wii fit work out is my favorite part. so much so, that i'll even go over the 30-minutes a day recommendation by doing the 10 minute boxing workout instead of the 6 minute or 3 minute. i just feel like maybe 30 minutes of work out a day isn't enough. maybe i need to do more.
i thought about taking alli while i try to lose weight, but i'm terrified of all those wonky poop-yourself side effects. ha.
i know a lot of people on here have dieted before. what works for you? what little tricks helped you the most? i'm open to advice.

I've heard nightmares about Alli. If you eat something fatty on accident, like if you eat out at a restaurant and order grilled chicken, but unbeknownst to you, that particular restaurant marinates their chicken breasts in OIL, you get an uncontrolable "oily discharge" from your a-hole. I considered it, too, until I read all these stories about it. Gross.
I'm a HUGE fan of juicing. Fruits, veggies, etc. are fun to juice and the result is 100% healthy. Just make sure you use organic or at least all natural produce so you're not drinking a cup full of pesticides and hormones. Eeewwww.
I don't know my starting weight. I need to purchase a scale.
anyway. super frustrating. but i think losing a few pounds a month is nothing, as long as i keep up with what i eat and excercise 4-5 days a week.
i have to swear off bourbon. this is going to be soooo hard! i love my bourbon, but it's full of sugar! :(
how often & for how long each day did your mom do taebo? i've been thinking about getting a taebo dvd because i loooove the wii fit boxing, and i want to do something similar, but with more intensity. even the 10 minute boxing work out is too easy for me now, after just 2 days!
if your mom has any diet tips, lemme know. :)
